Carpet Cleaning Business

Starting your own carpet cleaning business is probably a lot easier then you may think. You can actually start your own carpet cleaning business with a relatively small investment. The real key to success in carpet cleaning is learning the trade itself and most importantly, learning to treat your customers properly. Customer service, or I should say the lack of personal customer service is probably the biggest cause of failure in this business.

One of the things you must decide before starting your own business is exactly what services you will offer. There are many different ways to clean carpets. While most qualified carpet cleaners could equally clean any specific carpet using one of several methods, the specific methods call for very specific equipment. If you are not focused on your chosen carpet cleaning method, you will find you can spend thousands of dollars on unnecessary equipment and cleaning chemicals.

For example, steam carpet cleaning, or hot water extraction as it is properly called, can be easy to do, but there are many products on the market that can help you with steam carpet cleaning. A general steam carpet cleaning machine can be portable or truck mounted, which are more powerful. The main difference is that the truck mount unit might cost the new business owner anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 to purchase while a portable model could be purchased for less then $3,000.

A truck mounted steam carpet cleaning machine will have high vacuum recovery engines that can be powered by diesel fuels, gas, or a truck motor. This highly productive method can be a more effective way of steam carpet cleaning, but it can be large and can take longer to dry. Portable steam carpet cleaning machines can be easier to handle and can take less time to dry, but it will not be as effective.

In the past few decades there have been improvements in both carpet cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals. A new business owner would be benefited by considering low moisture carpet cleaning as an alternative to steam cleaning. Simply said, low moisture cleaning requires equipment that is much less expensive while being as good or better for the task of general cleaning of carpets.

As you can see, there are many decisions to be made before starting your own carpet cleaning business. You might consider the purchase of a good business outline or carpet cleaning business guide to help you make those decisions. It is always better to learn from someone else\'s experience then making some costly errors on our own.

Be assured though, you can be successful in running your own carpet cleaning business if you know how to take advantage of the competition and you specialize in one specific cleaning system that you have chosen. I highly recommend the Carpet Cleaning Business Guide shown below
