House Cleaning Tips For Your Kitchen and Dining Room Tables

The kitchen and dining room tables are the most frequently used furniture in the house for catching everyone's belongings. Mail, books, car keys, pens and pencils and even toys are usually found on these tables. And when it is time for dinner, we have a hard time cleaning this clutter.

To end this habit, you should place a small stand or table right next to the entrance so everyone can drop their belongings on it instead. Installing hooks next to the door for hats, coats and bags or anything that can be hanged is also helpful. A shelf instead of a table, with storage bins that are labeled with names of each of the family members, can be used in organizing. These bins should contain each family member's item upon entering the house making sure to empty these bins every evening.

Kitchen or dining room tables are sometimes considered a working place for your children to do their homework or projects or for adults who take their work at home. Make sure that there are storage bins, containers or shelves within reach or nearby for easy access, to pack away school supplies, office items or art supplies. During snacks, the food should be on a plate and drinking glass on a coaster for easy clean up, a placemat may also used to catch falling foods.

A beautiful table cloth and a large center piece on the table may also be used in helping to have a clutter free kitchen or dining room table. You can also place a few sets of dining utensils as a display, this way the family members will less likely to lay things on these tables because there are no space available and also because they do not want to distract from the beautiful ambiance of the room.

Everyone in the family must get in a habit of putting their things in their respective places to avoid a messy house and to stop misplacing things. If they cannot do it right away, at least it should be done each evening. Kitchen tables and dining room tables should also be used according to their assigned uses, kitchen table for cooking purposes and dining table for eating, and should not be used as a replacement for other working areas in the house. If it cannot be avoided, try purchasing a study table for your kids and a working table for adults, or you can use other tables in the house but not the kitchen or the dining room table.

It may be difficult to keep your tables clutter free at first since it may be a hard habit for everyone to break. But if your family is provided with another spot to drop their belongings when entering the house at least your tables will be kept clean and clutter free once the new habit is established.
