House Cleaning Tips: Speed Cleaning
Sometimes it seems like house cleaning is a never ending and a time consuming household chore. Just when you thought you have free time off from work, you instead find yourself cleaning the house all day long. However, with some clever ideas and time saving techniques in housekeeping, you will have more time to spend with your family, and at the same time will keep the entire house clean in just minutes a day.
Allotting or delegating time for cleaning parts of the house is important. You do not have to spend all your free time in cleaning the house, plan to clean half of the house in one day and the other half during your next free day. Deep cleaning every two weeks is helpful. Spending a few minutes each day tidying up the main rooms is also helpful. A day of mess is easier to manage than a week of accumulated mess.
Avoid repeated cleaning that consumes too much of your time. Clean every room either in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction until your back where you started. Each room should be clean from top to bottom and from dry to wet, like dusting first before mopping. Using wide side to side strokes with your cloth, vacuum, or mop, on floors and surfaces also avoids consuming too much time.
Working efficiently is also time-saving. Materials made from micro-fibers traps fine dirt and liquid rather than pushing them around like other cloths. Using a lint roller while cleaning lampshades is more time saving than dragging around a big vacuum. A multi-purpose spray used for cleaning can also make your work easier by applying it on the mop or dust cloth.
Using available recycled materials from your own house or essentials in the kitchen can also save you time and also money. An old sock slipped over your hand can quickly dust off small furniture and shades on the windows. Newspaper and vinegar works great in cleaning mirrors and windows. Using a baking soda solution in cleaning the refrigerator can eliminate odors and lessen the time required for scrubbing without damaging the surface.
You can also conserve time when house cleaning by multi-tasking. Soaking your bathroom first with cleanser to loosen up dirt and stains, to lessen scrubbing time while working on other things inside the bathroom like applying lemon oil on a micro-fiber cloth and wiping down shower walls, can help repel water and soap scum and make it much easier to clean. Before doing the dishes, run hot soapy water on them to totally wash off grease and food on the plate so washing them goes faster.
Delegating time for cleaning, knowing the right techniques, using the appropriate materials handy and within your reach, and having a positive attitude while cleaning the house can speed up cleaning time, simplify the work, and results in a more rewarding outcome, more free time not only for you but also your family.
