House Cleaning Tips for an Organized Closet

Are you tired of opening your messy closet? Maybe it is time to take a break from your busy life and clean it up. Due to our intense schedule and simple laziness, sometimes we take for granted simple responsibilities like carefully pulling and putting back piled clothes and accessories, and the result is a totally-disordered closet.

Here are a few house cleaning tips to help you organize your closet:

1. The first step is to empty your closet, this will give you an idea of the space being provided by your closet. Make a plan and visualize how to arrange your clothes, accessories and shoes separately and in the right manner. While your closet is empty, clean it using a pleasant smelling cleaner and a wash cloth to rub down dirt and dust.

2. The next step is to separately organize things that you removed from your closet by using at least three storage bins. One is to hold things that are important and that you will be keeping in your closet including your current clothes, underwear, accessories, shoes and other things that may be useful to you. The second bin will contain things that you do not use any more and needs to be disposed of and the third will be for the items that you can recycle, donate to charity or sell in an upcoming garage sale.

The second two bins should be set aside and organized later after you finish the main task of organizing your closet. They should be kept out of your sight, so you will not be tempted to pull stuff back out of them. Removing everything from your closet is difficult especially when you have a huge pile of clothes to wade through. But you may also locate things that you thought were long lost.

3. Now that you have all the essential items that need to be kept, clothes, shoes and accessories should be separated from each other and identified as an item for business attire or formal gathering such as coats, long sleeves polo, blazers and pants or skirts that are paired with them. Keep all your casual clothes together. Separate your underwear and socks from your main clothes. Now arrange them in your closet depending on how frequently you used each item, so you will have easy access to them. Clothes should be neatly folded or hung up on hangers. Also make sure they are ironed properly and ready to wear, especially your business or formal clothes.

4. Closet organizers are helpful in organizing your closet. Organizers include hangers, shelves and shoe racks. Working attire must be hung up and kept wrinkle free. Pants should be hung up also, separating jeans from your business and formal pants. If there is extra space in your closet you can use shelves for underwear and accessories. Shoe racks should be under the clothes on hangers and shoes should be arranged neatly according to their kind and frequency of use.

Organizing your closet might be tiring, but the effort and time is worth it. Having an organized closet will make your life a whole lot easier every time you get dressed and will give your home a more orderly appearance.
